Former Louisville safety Josh Minkins Jr. commits to West Virginia out of the transfer portal
Josh Minkins Jr., who just finished his fourth season at Louisville, has announced that he’s transferring to West Virginia out of the transfer portal.
The safety shared the news of his commitment in a post on social media on Sunday.
Over his time in the Cardinals’ secondary, Minkins Jr. totaled 99 tackles, three pass deflections, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a sack. Those came in several appearances, and, eventually, as a starter, during his time with the program.
He then elected to enter the portal earlier this month.
Minkins Jr. played high school football at Ballard (KY) where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,060 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished as a Top-75 safety as well as a Top-15 player out of the state of Kentucky.
Neal Brown had quite the turnaround this past season with the Mountaineers. Now, some of that momentum has carried over to the offseason with Minkins Jr. being the team’s second portal addition so far.
