Louisville defensive back Wesley Walker re-enters NCAA transfer portal after also spending time at Tennessee and Georgia Tech, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Walker joined the Cardinals this offseason through the portal as a graduate transfer, but following spring practice, he will now return for the portal and look for the fourth program of his career to call home.

Prior to his short stint with Louisville, Walker spent the previous two seasons at Tennessee. Appearing in 23 games for the Vols and making 12 starts where he recorded 89 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one interceptions in his two seasons in Knoxville.

Walked started off his college career at Georgia Tech before returning to him home state ahead of the 2022 season. Redshirting in his first college season after appearing in three games before making 20 game appearances and 13 starts in his following two years in Atlanta. Ending his Georgia Tech career with 95 tackles, six pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.

Walker played high school football at Ensworth High School in Tennessee where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 505 overall recruit and the No. 46 safety in the 2019 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Walker is a college football journeyman, but his experience in undeniable between his time spent in the SEC and ACC. As the 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety will look for one last team to join as a grad transfer with 46 career games and 25 starts under his belt.

“Wesley, the amount of times he’s been in college football, he’s able to take a scheme that he’s ran before and transitioned it into the verbiage we have but it’s been a fluid transition for him. Made a big play out there today,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said regarding Walker during fall camp of 2022.
