LSU transfer Jaxon Howard commits to Minnesota
Former four-star recruit Jaxon Howard is returning home to Minnesota.
The former LSU EDGE has committed to Minnesota, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Jaxon Howard is a Minnesota native who spent one season at LSU. He appeared in five games in 2023, recording two tackles and a quarterback hurry.
Jaxon Howard is the son of Willie Howard, who played college football at Stanford, before being drafted in the second round of the 2001 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
The younger Howard was rated as the top player in Minnesota coming out of high school, according to the On3 Industry rankings. He was also tabbed as the No. 16 EDGE in the nation and the No. 120 overall player in the country.
Jaxon Howard also played tight end during his high school career.

LSU safety Ryan Yaites enters NCAA transfer portal
It has been a busy day for LSU players who were a part of the class of 2023.
In addition to Jaxon Howard committing to Minnesota, defensive back Ryan Yaites also entered the transfer portal.
Yaites played in all 13 games last season as a true freshman. He finished the year with 16 tackles, while contributing on defense and special teams.

Ryan Yaites joined the LSU program as a four-star recruit in the class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry rankings. He was tabbed as the No. 20 safety in the country.
The Texas native played 242 snaps last season, with 124 being on defense and the rest on special teams.
Prior to signing with LSU, he attended John H. Guyer High School in Denton, Texas.
During his senior season of high school, Yaites finished with 63 tackles, 11 pass breakups and a pair of interceptions. As a junior, he recorded 42 tackles and eight pass breakups.
Before coming to LSU, he was named an Under Armour All-American.
Out of high school, Ryan Yaites chose the Tigers over offers from some of the top programs in the country, including Texas and Notre Dame.
LSU is coming off of a 10-3 season under Brian Kelly. The former Notre Dame head coach led the Tigers to 10 wins in each of his first two seasons in Baton Rouge.
