Former Ohio State defensive lineman Jaden McKenzie has signed with East Carolina as a transfer, the team announced on social media on Tuesday. He has one season of eligibility remaining.

McKenzie was mostly a reserve defensive lineman in his time with the Buckeyes. He played in 22 games during five seasons, with a majority of his appearances coming in the last two seasons. He played in seven games in 2022 and nine in 2023 for 16 appearances his last two seasons. He leaves Ohio State with 20 career tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

He’ll be looking to compete for a starting job with the Pirates in hopes of putting up some higher levels of production than in years past.

McKenzie played high school football at Wake Forest (N.C.) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 853 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
