Former Tennessee OL Maurice Clipper Jr. transfers to Charlotte
Former Tennessee offensive lineman Maurice Clipper Jr. has transferred to Charlotte, On3 has learned.
The 6-foot-5, 308-pound interior offensive lineman was a reserve for Josh Heupel’s squad since arriving on campus last offseason. Now, he moves on to the 49ers who have overhauled the transfer portal on Monday night including Florida transfers Jordan Moko and QB Max Brown. Former Clemson OT Mitchell Mayes rounded out the four-consecutive commitment announcements on Monday evening.
This portal overhaul now sees the 49ers obtain three plug-and-play offensive linemen and a quarterback with SEC experience in Brown. It’s a great start to the winter transfer portal window for head coach Biff Poggi and the 49ers this offseason, who finished their first season in the American Conference with a 3-9 record.
Clipper played high school football at Milton (GA) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 724 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
