General Booty receives early transfer interest from Louisiana-Monroe, Samford, Tulsa, UTSA
General Booty, one of the best names in college athletics who spent the past two seasons at Oklahoma, entered the transfer portal on Thursday. He has already since received early interest from a handful of programs according to the latest that he told to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Nakos shared the update on Booty during an appearance on ‘Andy Staples On3’ on Friday. Based on a text from the quarterback himself, he listed off the four teams that have reached out early on in his portal recruitment.
“So you see me looking at my phone,” said Nakos. “General Booty sent me a list of schools who he has been in contact with – Tulsa, Samford, UTSA, and Louisiana-Monroe. Those are the four or five that reached out immediately.”
Booty appeared in two games while as a Sooner the last two years but didn’t post any statistics.
That came after one year at a JUCO in Tyler Junior College where he threw for 3,410 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions on 61% completion, many of which were leading numbers in the NJCAA. Nakos referenced that season as a reason why Booty would be a solid addition for one of those mid-majors to land out of the portal.
“The fun thing about General Booty too is, like, he’s a baller. Like, he threw for like 3,000 yards at Tyler Junior College before he got to Oklahoma,” noted Nakos. “This guy is a baller. Now I guess we’re going to have a battle over Samford and Louisiana-Monroe.”
Booty didn’t have any real chances in Norman behind Dillon Gabriel and as the offense moves on to Jackson Arnold. Still, Staples thinks he’s one of those transfers who just needs an opportunity elsewhere. Plus, on top of that, whichever program lands him will also have a shot to capitalize on his name being part of their roster.

“Listen, we need this man to have a chance to start,” said Staples.
“He just needs a chance to play. Like, once he’s starting, he’s QB1 somewhere? Like, the NIL market on that team just goes through the roof,” Staples said. “So, whether he’s a ULM Warhawk, a Samford Bulldog, a Tulsa Hurricane? Like, whatever it is, that will be a boom to that particular program. Imagine being the center snapping to General Booty? Like, there has to be some NIL dollars in that!”
In On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players, Booty isn’t high as the 2,199th transfer overall. However, he has benefitted himself in the space of name, image, and likeness with a solid valuation based on his specific deals.
That’s why the specific recruitment of Booty will be more valuable than just any other quarterback that had been a reserve in recent years.
“Listen, this might be the most highly-anticipated transfer portal recruitment of all time,” joked Staples.
“It sure is,” Nakos replied. “I mean he’s an NIL star too. He has his own underwear collection, he came out with the General’s Crimson Cream like two years ago. I mean the guy is rollin’.”
