Georgia Tech power forward Duncan Powell plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Georgia Tech power forward Duncan Powell officially plans to enter the transfer portal, On3’s Joe Tipton reported. The GT star was a steady performer off the bench for the Yellow Jackets, entering the starting lineup in February. In ACC games, Powell averaged 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game (ranking second on the team). He also shot a team-high 36.5% on 104 three-point attempts in ACC play.
For the entire season, Powell connected on 44.1% of his field goals, while drilling 35.8% of his three-point attempts. He started the last 11 games of the 2024-2025 season as the Yellow Jackets had to deal with a number of injuries down the stretch. Powell erupted in the 2025 ACC Tournament, pumping in 21 points in a win over the Virginia Cavaliers and scoring 24 points against the Duke Blue Devils. For his efforts, he was named All-ACC Tournament Second Team. Powell racked up 46 points in those two tournament games, hitting 18 of 34 shots from the floor, plus 6 of 16 from beyond-the-arc.
Powell really turned things on in the latter part of the season, erupting for 21-points against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Dec. 31. In 17 of his last 21 games, he reached double digits. Powell also erupted for 20 or more points seven times, with six of those coming in Georgia Tech’s final 16 games of the year.
In 2023-2024 at Sacramento State, Powell played in 29 games, starting 23 of those. He missed the final five games of the season with an injury. He finished the season as the Hornets’ leading scorer (12.1 points per game) and rebounder (7.0 points per game). His rebounds ranked him sixth in the Big Sky Conference.
An excellent passer, Powell also averaged 2.0 assists in 26.5 minutes per outing. He scored in double figures 21 times, while also grabbing 10 or more rebounds six times. He also stuffed the stat sheet with just the second triple-double in Sacramento State’s Division I era–13 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists vs. Bethesda.
