Hawaii transfer QB Brayden Schager to visit BYU
Hawaii transfer quarterback Brayden Schager is set to visit BYU on Sunday, On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed. Schager has one year of eligibility remaining.
Schager finished the season ranked No. 8 in the nation with 3,542 passing yards. He’s also led the Mountain West with 26 passing touchdowns and 14 interceptions. In three seasons with the Rainbow Warriors, he’s thrown for over 6,500 yards with a 60% completion percentage.
He’s started over 20 games in his collegiate career and was one of just 13 true freshman quarterbacks nationally to start a regular-season game in 2021. In his senior season of high school, Schager threw for 3,102 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Schager played high school football at Highland Park (Texas) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1344 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound quarterback was expected to draw interest from Power 5 schools, and now has from at least one.
