Hunter Dickinson made the shocking decision to leave Michigan and instantly become of the most sought-after players in the NCAA transfer portal. Programs from across the country were going to come after the former Consensus second-team All-American. Now, Dickinson will be meeting with one of the sport’s blue-blood programs.

According to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, Dickinson will meet with Kentucky via Zoom on Wednesday. With head coach John Calipari recently losing big man Ugonna Kingsley Onyenso to the portal, Dickinson could come in and be a real game-changer for the Wildcats.

“Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson is set to have a Zoom meeting with Kentucky today, source close to Dickinson told @Stadium,” Goodman said. “Dickinson obviously getting plenty of love from nearly all the high-majors.”

Kentucky is not the only SEC program to set up a meeting with Dickinson. He had also reportedly Zoomed with Arkansas on Tuesday. This should come as no surprise that Eric Musselman is going big fish hunting in the NCAA transfer portal as it’s been his specialty while in Fayetteville.

Dickinson has played in 94 games throughout his career, nearly producing a double-double per night. He averages 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game and has a long list of accomplishments dating back to his freshman year.

From a team perspective, he has been a member of two Michigan Sweet Sixteen teams — something Kentucky has not accomplished since 2019.

According to the On3 transfer portal rankings, Dickinson is the top overall player. He is considered a five-star prospect out of the portal, being one of two players. As things stand on the RPM, Maryland currently has the lead at 100%.

Hunter Dickinson considering Kentucky

Kentucky does have recent success with taking big men, turning Oscar Tshiebwe into a superstar. Coming in via West Virginia, Tshiebwe was last season’s National Player of the Year. While Dickinson is already an incredible player, further development could take place in Lexington.

Speaking of Tshiebwe, there has been no official announcement on his status for the 2023-2024 season. Calipari revealed Tshiebwe will be entering his name into the NBA Draft but will leave the door open to returning. A fan favorite for Kentucky, the fan base would always love to have Tshiebwe back.

If there is a world where Tshiebwe and Dickinson can line up on the court at the same time, the Wildcats may have one of the most terrifying frontcourts in college basketball history.
