Iowa transfer wide receiver Keagan Johnson reels in first three offers

With the transfer portal opening up Monday, former Iowa receiver Keagan Johnson has quickly become a hot commodity. The former four-star recruit has already obtained offers from Kansas State, Notre Dame and Nebraska, he announced via his Twitter on Monday evening.
The Nebraska offer is interesting, as Johnson played his high school ball at Bellevue West High School in Bellevue, Nebraska. There he ranked as the No. 347 overall prospect according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average.
Johnson had a breakout freshman year at Iowa, finishing with 18 catches for 352 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2021. Unfortunately, he has battled an injury this season and played in only one game according to the Hawkeyes’ website.
Johnson is likely to take a medical redshirt from this year, meaning he would have three years of eligibility remaining wherever he chooses to play. As this is his first transfer, he’ll be immediately eligible to play at his next school.

Keagan Johnson was not the only Hawkeyes receiver to enter the transfer portal. Arland Bruce IV, who was also a four-star recruit in the 2021 class, is the other. Bruce and Johnson entered the portal Monday. Neither did much with the Hawkeyes, but Iowa had one of the most unproductive passing attacks in the nation.
Both Johnson and Bruce will hope to follow in the footsteps of their former teammate Charlie Jones, who transferred to Purdue last offseason. Jones went on to have a career season with the Boilermakers in 2022, leading the team with 110 receptions for 1,361 yards and 12 touchdowns.
