Houston cornerback Isaiah Hamilton has withdrawn from the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He officially entered the portal earlier this week.

On3’s Pete Nakos reported the expectation Hamilton would transfer last week, and his name appeared in the portal Dec. 28. He started his career at Texas Southern, where he spent three seasons before arriving at Houston in 2023.

In 12 appearances for the Cougars, Isaiah Hamilton had 50 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss to go with four interceptions — including a pick-six. His decision to enter the portal came after the NCAA sent guidance to schools on Thursday that multi-time transfers who enter the transfer portal this fall or winter will be eligible to play at a new school in the 2024-25 academic year without securing a waiver. On3 obtained the memo.

Houston recently made a coaching change, opting to move on from Dana Holgersen and hire Tulane’s Willie Fritz to take over the program. The Cougars had an up-and-down first season in the Big 12, finishing with a 4-8 record.
