“First, I want to thank Jayhawk Nation for giving me the opportunity to be a part of something special here at the University of Kansas,” McBride wrote in his post. “I appreciate all of the coaches and staff for giving me the opportunity to grow as a man and play at the best of my ability. Lastly, I want to thank all of my teammate sfor being able to build great relationships and always having my back, y’all will forever be my brothers.
“After much consideration, I would be entering the Transfer Portal with 2 years of eligibility remaining once the portal window opens Dec. 5th. Thank you Jayhawk Nation! Rock Chalk!”

In August, the NCAA voted to adopt transfer portal windows, meaning players can’t enter until those dates. For football, that date is Dec. 5 because that’s the day after conference championships, and players have 45 days to enter the portal after that. If they don’t by then, they’ll have to wait until May 1.
McBride is a former three-star recruit and was the No. 1,027-ranked player in the nation from the class of 2020, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
