UCF lands commitment from Arkansas transfer QB KJ Jefferson
Arkansas transfer quarterback KJ Jefferson took nearly a month to officially enter the transfer portal.
The process of finding his next school went significantly faster. Jefferson has committed to UCF, heading to Orlando to play for Gus Malzahn.
With five years of experience with the Razorbacks, he’s one of the most established names at his position in the sport. He’s thrown for 7,923 yards and 67 touchdowns with just 18 interceptions. The former four-star recruit in the class of 2019 has 39 career starts, touting a 20-19 overall record.
UCF has been aggressive in the quarterback market this portal cycle, hosting Coastal Carolina transfer Grayson McCall on an official visit in December. The three-time Sun Belt Player of the Year committed to NC State, however, leaving the Knights without a quarterback.
Miami and TCU were also in the mix to land Jefferson. The Hurricanes hosted Kansas State transfer Will Howard and Washington State transfer Cam Ward, but kept communication open with the Arkansas transfer. Landing in Fort Worth would have reunited him with his old offensive coordinator, Kendal Briles.
UCF has its quarterback in KJ Jefferson, though, giving the Knights a veteran starter with experience in the SEC.
