Ohio quarterback Kurtis Rourke commits to Indiana
Ohio transfer quarterback Kurtis Rourke has committed to Indiana, he announced Thursday afternoon on social media.
The 2022 MAC Offensive Player of the Year will be making the jump from the MAC to the Big Ten. It’s a significant pickup for first-year head coach Curt Cignetti, who recently took the job after leading James Madison for the last five seasons including to an 11-1 record this year.
Rourke was considered a possible late-round selection in this year’s NFL draft. After visiting Bloomington, he’s now transferring to a spot where he feels like the offense can prepare him for the next level.
“I love the staff and the fact that they are winners,” he told On3. “The offense also is similar to NFL offenses. There are many other reasons but those were the main ones.”
An ACL injury cut his 2022 season short last November, but he was still named 2022 MAC Offensive Player of the Year, throwing for 3,200 yards and 25 touchdowns with just four interceptions. Recovering from the injury this season, he recorded 2,207 passing yards and 11 touchdowns while only throwing five interceptions.
Kurtis Rourke is expected to compete for the starting job at Indiana, which lost quarterbacks Brendan Sorsby and Dexter Williams II to the portal earlier this month.
