Louisville lands transfer commitment from former Arizona State lineman Jermayne Lole
The decision is in for former Arizona State defensive lineman Jermayne Lole in the transfer portal. He’s heading to Louisville.
Lole took to Twitter to announce his decision Friday, choosing the Cardinals after three years with the Sun Devils under Herm Edwards. He also had interest from USC and took a visit to Oregon after entering the portal.
After Jordan Addison committed to USC on Thursday, Lole became the No. 1 player available in the portal, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings. He didn’t play in 2021 due to a triceps injury, but didn’t entirely rule out a return to Arizona State after entering the portal. In fact, he reportedly decided to test the portal waters to see what kind of NIL opportunities were out there.
Lole was a preseason All-Pac-12 selection prior to the 2021 season, just before he suffered the injury. His best year in an Arizona State uniform came in 2019 when he had 71 tackles and 6.5 sacks as a sophomore. He’ll likely be able to play a big role in bolstering the Louisville defensive line in 2022.

Out of high school, Lole was a three-star recruit and the No. 79 defensive line recruit from the Class of 2018, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Louisville is coming off a 6-7 overall record in 2021, including 4-4 in ACC action. The Cardinals took on Air Force in the First Responders Bowl — an eventual 31-28 loss on Dec. 28. After the season, Louisville reaffirmed its commitment to Scott Satterfield as coach. The 2022 campaign will be his fourth go-round as the Cardinals headman and he brings an 18-19 overall record at UL into the year, including a 12-13 mark in conference play.
