Darian Chestnut is headed back to Syracuse. He goes by “Duce” and originally began his career with the Orange, but transferred to LSU for this season, and will now return to Syracuse after re-entering the portal.

Chestnut’s leap forward from an ACC program in Syracuse which went on to fire its coach to a recent national title winner and reigning SEC West champion LSU didn’t pan out quite like he may have hoped. The junior DB saw action in just four total games and may have even kept his eligibility for the year, since you’re now allowed to redshirt so long as you play in four or less games. But in those games, he recorded six total tackles and grabbed one interception.

Prior to his first transfer away from ‘Cuse, Chestnut caught on as an immediate impact player in the secondary. His best statistical season came as a true freshman, when he made a career-high 43 tackles, defensed eight passes and intercepted three others. As a sophomore, he made 40 tackles and logged just one pass deflection and one interception.

Check out his commitment post and right here.

Duce Chestnut played high school football at Camden (NJ) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 469 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
