Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa enters NCAA transfer portal
Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He spent the past four seasons with the Terrapins, including the past three as the full-time starter.
Tagovailoa ends his career at Maryland with 11,256 yards passing and 76 touchdowns, both of which rank him first in program history. He directed the team to a 22-16 record over the past three seasons and was named second team All-Big Ten in 2022.
This year, Tagovailoa led the Big Ten with 3,377 yards passing to go along with 25 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. The Terrapins finished 7-5 to achieve bowl eligibility for the third straight season.
Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of former Alabama and current Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailia, began his career with the Crimson Tide in 2019 before deciding the transfer after his true freshman season. He played five games at Alabama behind Tua Tagovailoa.
Taulia Tagovailoa played at Thompson (AL) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He ranked as the No. 188 overall prospect and No. 8 quarterback in the 2019 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
