UNLV expected to host Holy Cross transfer QB Matthew Sluka
UNLV is expected to host Holy Cross transfer quarterback Matthew Sluka on a visit this weekend, a source tells On3.
The Rebels are searching for a new quarterback this offseason since Mountain West Freshman of the Year Jayden Maiava entered the transfer portal. Campbell transfer quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams committed to UNLV over the weekend.
Adding Sluka would provide depth and experience to the room. If the Holy Cross transfer lands in Las Vegas, he will challenge Williams for the starting job. The two-time Walter Payton Award Finalist and 2023 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, the quarterback has thrown for 5,916 career yards with 59 touchdowns and just 15 interceptions.
Sluka is also a threat in the rushing game, too, carrying the ball 599 times for 3,583 yards and 38 touchdowns. He led Holy Cross to a quarterfinal appearance in the 2022 FCS Playoffs.
