Miami transfer DB Davonte Brown commits to Florida State
Miami transfer defensive back Davonte Brown recently entered the portal in search of a new home. Now, he’s found it with a Hurricanes’ rival by officially committing to the Florida State Seminoles. FSU announced the signing of Brown on Monday.
Brown only spent one season with the Hurricanes, making 11 total appearances and zero starts. Brown finished the season with 10 tackles and one pass defended. Before joining Miami, Brown spent three seasons with the UCF Knights.
While there, Brown served as full-time starter for his final two seasons and started 31 games while making 36 appearances. In his final campaign with the Knights, Brown posted 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions.
In his four-year career, Brown has amassed 99 tackles, 19 passes defended, three interceptions, a sack and a forced fumble.
Brown played high school football at American Heritage (FL), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,502 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
