Michigan tight end Matthew Hibner has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. Hibner spent four years at Michigan and will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Hibner never started on the offense for the Wolverines but won a trio of Big Ten titles as a core special teamer from 2021-23. He didn’t play as a true freshman in 2020. He’s got two career receptions for 15 yards and four tackles, plus a fumble recovery.

Playing in a Michigan program that’s had no shortage of top-shelf tight ends — notably Luke Schoonmaker and Colston Loveland during Hibner’s tenure — it’s been a struggle to climb the depth chart. Even still, Hibner found a way to be a key cog in the operation for the program that won three-straight conference crowns.

Hibner played high school football at Lake Braddock (Va.) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 475 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
