Mississippi State transfer offensive tackle Percy Lewis is inching closer to decision mode, he tells On3.

Ranked as the ninth-best tackle still available in the portal, he’s received interest from some of the top programs in the nation. Lewis tells On3 he’s slimmed down his list of schools to eight.

Arkansas, Auburn, Cal, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Memphis and South Carolina are all in the mix to land the 6-foot-8, 345-pound offensive tackle. He plans to take the next two weeks to weigh each school’s pros and cons and decide.

A native of Mississippi, the junior college product signed with Mississippi State in Dec. 2021 after previously being committed to Oregon. In two seasons with the Bulldogs, Lewis played in 25 games with eight starts.

He finished this season with 437 total snaps, allowing one sack and four quarterback hurries this season. Percy Lewis was also penalized just three times. Playing close to home at his next stop will be a factor.

“Every university on this list provides me with an opportunity to compete for the starting left tackle position and refine my skill set for the next level,” he told On3. “My goal is to show the world I am one of the best offensive linemen in the country. Proximity to home is always a factor but playing for a staff that will entrust me to protect their starting quarterback is integral in my decision. I’m ready to put my head down and work my but off for one of these great programs.

“This week I’ll be sitting down with my representatives at Peterson Sports and will weigh out the pros and cons and announce a commitment to the world within about two weeks.”
