NC State transfer QB MJ Morris meets with LSU, visits Maryland
NC State transfer quarterback MJ Morris has had an eventful 24 hours.
Morris decided in November to shut down his sophomore season and redshirt after playing in four games, preserving another year of eligibility. With three years of eligibility remaining, he’s been a name multiple programs have expressed interest in since he entered the portal on Monday.
The former three-star recruit spent his Thursday at Maryland, he tells On3’s Chad Simmons. The Terrapins are in the market for a quarterback, with Taulia Tagovailoa expected to leave for the NFL draft.
On Wednesday night he met with LSU at his apartment in Raleigh. Quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan made the trip up to North Carolina to visit with Morris. While Jayden Daniels is headed to New York City for the Heisman Trophy ceremony, he will be leaving for the NFL. Adding a new like Morris to the quarterback room would be a solid pickup, even with Garrett Nussmeier the expected starter in 2024.
He completed 58 percent of his passes while throwing for more than 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns in two seasons with the Wolfpack. He played in five games as a true freshman and four as a sophomore. MJ Morris went 3-1 as a starter this season for NC State.
