Montana quarterback Clifton McDowell plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Montana Grizzlies and former Louisiana Ragin Cajuns quarterback, Clifton McDowell is planning on exiting the program. On Tuesday, McDowell announced he is heading into the NCAA Transfer Portal. The soon-to-be former Grizzlies star quarterback has one year of eligibility remaining.
McDowell did it all for the Grizzlies this past season. The 6-foot-4 senior quarterback put together a solid performance through the air, completing 160-274 of his past attempts for 2026 yards, 13 passing touchdowns, and four interceptions.
McDowell was also the team’s second-leading rusher behind running back Eli Gillman, with 169 carries for 753 yards and nine rushing touchdowns, all the while leading Montana to the FCS championship game. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies could not complete the mission, falling to the undefeated Jack Rabbits 23-3 in the championship game.
McDowell played high school football at Spring High in Spring, TX, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1690 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
