Nebraska quarterback Chubba Purdy plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Nebraska quarterback Chubba Purdy plans to enter the transfer portal, according to On3’s HuskerOnline Sean Callahan.
The news comes hours after the Cornhuskers received five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola’s National Letter of Intent. The No. 3 quarterback in the 2024 class flipped his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska on Monday night, making him the highest-ranked recruit in program history.
Purdy played two seasons at Florida State to start off his college career where he appeared in four games and made one start. For the Seminoles Purdy threw for 317 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception before transferring to Nebraska ahead of the 2022 season.
In 2022 Purdy made six game appearances with two starts, completing 22 of his 48 passes for 147 yards while also rushing for 73 yards and two scores. This year he started the final two games of the regular season for the Cornhuskers and in those games threw for 358 yards and rushed for 147, scoring twice through the air, once through the ground, and throwing two interceptions. He will now look for a third program to call home in his collegiate career.
Purdy played high school football at Gilbert (AZ) Perry, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 211 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
