New Mexico transfer RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt flips commitment back to Arizona from Ole Miss
New Mexico transfer running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt flipped his commitment on Wednesday night back to the Arizona Wildcats, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. The move comes a month and a half after he flipped his commitment from the Arizona Wildcats to the Ole Miss Rebels on April 19th.
Arizona had one of their most successful seasons in school history this year, finishing with a 10-3 overall record after winning the Alamo Bowl over the Oklahoma Sooners (38-24). Their old head coach, Jedd Fisch, has since departed and moved onto the Washington Huskies. In his place, the Wildcats hired Brent Brennan, the cousin of former Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan.
Croskey-Merritt will be joining one of the most electrifying quarterback-wide receiver tandems in all of college football. Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan were virtually impossible to stop last year. And they were massive reasons why the Wildcats had unprecedented success in 2023.
Arizona’s offense ranked No. 8 in the country in passing yards per game (308.3) and No. 18 in points per game (34.6). Receiver Jacob Cowing set a single-season program record with 13 touchdown catches, while his teammate Tetairoa McMillan led the team with 1,402 yards. While Cowing has moved onto the NFL, McMillan and Fifita both return. Fifita threw for 2,869 passing yards, while tossing in 25 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Croskey-Merritt began his career at Alabama State before playing the 2023 season at New Mexico. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt shined in his one year with NMSU
After middling production at Alabama State to start his career, Croskey-Merritt shined for the Lobos. He carried the ball 189 times 1190 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns in 2023 during his lone season out west.
Croskey-Merritt played high school football at Lanier (Al.) High School, where he was an unrated prospect in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
