North Carolina reserve offensive lineman Chance Carroll has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. Carroll will have at least one year of eligibility remaining.

Carroll played minimally at North Carolina during his career. He played in three games for 10 snaps in 2020 and appeared in one game for a trio of snaps in 2021. After not playing in 2022, he appeared in five games for the Tar Heels in 2023.

A North Carolina native, Carroll may opt to continue playing close to home or go further a field as he likely seeks out a landing spot where he can see the field more regularly. Who gets after him in the portal will also play a big role in what options Carroll ultimately has.

Carroll played high school football at Williams Amos Hough (N.C.) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 2596 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
