North Carolina CB Tayon Holloway enters NCAA transfer portal

North Carolina cornerback Tayon Holloway has entered the transfer portal, On3 has learned. The redshirt freshman is in the portal after appearing in 10 games this season.

Holloway recorded 19 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, this year.

Holloway signed with North Carolina as a four-star recruit and the No. 189 overall player in the country in the class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry rankings. He was ranked as the No. 7 recruit in Virginia for the 2022 class.

Holloway redshirted during his first season at North Carolina, before providing depth for the Tar Heels this past season.

Prior to coming to UNC, Tayon Holloway starred on both sides of the ball at Green Run High in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

As a senior, he caught 46 passes for 959 yards and 17 touchdowns. He earned first-team All-Beach District honors at both wide receiver and defensive back.

Holloway had offers from Oregon, Texas A&M, Alabama, Penn State and plenty of others when he was coming out of high school.
