North Texas guard CJ Noland plants to enter NCAA transfer portal
North Texas guard CJ Noland plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal according to a report from The Athletic’s Tobias Bass.
Noland started off his college career at Oklahoma, spending two seasons with the Sooners before transferring to North Texas. And after one lone season with the Mean Green, he now plants to enter the transfer portal yet again in search of a new program ahead of his senior year.
He was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team in 2022 after averaging 3.9 points per game in his true freshman season with the Sooners. Appearing in 33 games off of the bench where he also averaged 1.5 rebounds per game and recorded 22 total assists on the season.
Noland made eight starts in year two for the Sooners, but his production was virtually identical to his freshman year. Averaging 3.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per game before deciding to transfer to North Texas and return to his home state.

He had a career season for the Mean Green last year, averaging 10.9 points on 43.7% shooting from the field along with 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. Which are all career highs. Noland missed five games with injury last season, but still appeared in 29 games and made 20 starts.
Noland scored in double-figures 20 times last season, highlighted by a strong finish to the season where he did so in the final five games of the year and in 10 of the last 11 games he played in. Scoring a career-high 23 points versus Tulane in a second-round AAC Tournament win and 21 points against LSU in a round one victory over LSU in the NIT.
Noland played high school basketball at Waxahachie High School in Texas, where he was a four-star prospect, ranked the No. 83 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
