Former Ohio State defensive back Ryan Turner has committed to Boston College as a transfer, he announced on social media on Friday. Turner will have multiple years of eligibility remaining.

Turner took a redshirt during his true freshman season in 2022. He then appeared in just two games in 2023 in a crowded Buckeyes defensive backfield, playing as an outside corner. He recorded a pair of tackles in the Buckeyes’ penultimate regular season game.

He shared a statement with On3’s Letterman Row after deciding to enter the portal earlier in December.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for blessing me with a talent and the love for a sport that I know without Him would be impossible. A heartfelt thank you to my parents, my siblings and my family for your unwavering support. Thank you to THE Ohio State coaching staff, my teammates and Buckeye Nation for an unforgettable experience that will forever be a part of my football/college experiences. After speaking with my family and weighing my options, I have made the decision to enter my name in the transfer portal. Thank you again Buckeye Nation,” Turner said in that statement.

Turner played high school football at Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fl.) Prep, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 445 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
