Oklahoma forward John Hugley has committed to Xavier out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Hugley has spent four seasons in college basketball, the last of which was at Oklahoma. But he hit the NCAA transfer portal for the second time this offseason and has now found a new home.

Prior to his one-year stint at Oklahoma, Hugley spent three seasons in Pittsburgh.

At his best, he can be a downright dominant force on the boards. But Hugley has sometimes had trouble staying on the floor, appearing in just seven games in one season and eight games in another.

He avearged 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds as a sophomore at Pittsburgh in 2021-22, starting 31 of 32 games that season. He has started only eight other games across his other three seasons.

During the 2023-24 campaign for the Sooners, Hugley started one contest and appeared in 24. He averaged 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

Prior to enrolling at Pittsburgh, John Hugley was a four-star prospect and the No. 89 overall recruit in the 2020 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He also checked in as the No. 16 power forward in his class and the No. 1 overall player from the state of Ohio.

Oklahoma transfer Javian McCollum picks Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech has made a splashy addition through the transfer portal, landing the leading scorer off of Oklahoma’s 2023-24 team, Javian McCollum.

College hoops insider Jon Rothstein reported the news of McCollum’s new destination on Sunday afternoon, tweeting that he was headed to GT with this post: “Source: Oklahoma transfer Javian McCollum has committed to Georgia Tech.”

McCollum spent two years at Siena before transferring to Oklahoma last season. He’ll be a true senior with the Yellow Jackets in 2024-25.

His freshman year back at Siena wasn’t terribly notable, but as a sophomore, McCollum popped to averaged 15.9 points and 3.9 assists per game for a Saints squad that finished third place in the MAAC. Turns out, his departure following that season was well-timed, as Siena tanked miserably, limping to a 4-28 record and last-place finish in the MAAC.

With the Sooners, McCollum spearheaded a solid backcourt trio for Porter Moser and averaged 13.3 points per game to lead all OU players in 2024. Following the season, though, McCollum and the entire Sooner starting backcourt jumped ship and entered the transfer portal — including Otega Oweh and Milos Uzan, the latter of which found a perfect landing spot in Houston.
