Ole Miss transfer offensive lineman Cedric Melton found his home in the transfer portal on Friday evening. He committed to the Houston Cougars. Melton announced the move on his Twitter page.

He also flirted with other options in the portal, such as the UTSA Roadrunners.

In 2022, Melton saw action in 10 games for the Rebels, primarily getting his work on special teams. In 2021 as a redshirt freshman, Melton played in six games, with three starts coming at left guard. As a freshman in 2020, he didn’t see any snaps and redshirted.

He played his high school football for Klein Cain (Houston, Texas). In the 2020 cycle, Melton was rated as a three-star recruit and the No. 1,508 overall prospect in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He earned Offensive MVP for Klein Cain after his senior campaign. He also earned first team All-District 15-6A that season. When he chose Ole Miss coming out of high school, he picked them over offers from Arizona, Houston, Memphis, and Texas Tech, among many others.
