Former Middle Tennessee safety Jakobe Thomas has committed to Oregon State, he announced on Thursday.

“After plenty of talks with my family, and god this is my decision. Go beavs,” he posted on Twitter.

Thomas chose Oregon State over offers from Auburn, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Louisville, Ole Miss and others.

Jakobe Thomas had an excellent season at Middle Tennessee in 2023, finishing with 71 tackles, which ranked second on the team. He also recorded three tackles for loss, five pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.

Thomas played in 11 games and made 10 starts this past season. He played in 12 games and made three starts in 2022.

The Tennessee native signed with MTSU as a member of the class of 2021. He appeared in one game his first year on campus.

Thomas will be playing for Oregon State head coach Trent Bray. Bray was previously serving as the defensive coordinator for the Beavers. He is taking over for Jonathan Smith, who left to be the head coach at Michigan State.
