Oregon State guard Christian Wright enters NCAA Transfer Portal
The Oregon State Beavers men’s basketball program did not have the 2023-24 campaign that they envisioned when they first took the floor back in November. And as they head into the offseason to address the issues of this year, the Beavers program now knows that they will be without one of their key players from this season. On3 has learned that, on Monday, sophomore guard Christian Wright has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Unfortunately, there is no recruiting information on Wright in On3’s Industry Ranking recruiting database. However, the Alpharetta, GA, native is credited with attending The Skill Factory, which is an institution designed specifically to help develop young athletes with skills and drills geared toward becoming professionals.
After two years in Corvallis, OR, Wright has decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal for the second time in his collegiate career. Unfortunately for the Beavers, he would not be the only player electing to depart from the program, as Justin Rochelin did so not too long ago.

This season, Wright was a part-time starter for Oregon State earnings, starting in 14 of the 29 games that he played. However he is yet to average the same amount of minutes in either season with the Beavers as he did in his freshman year with the Georgia Bulldogs. At Georgia, right started in 11 of the 32 games he played in and averaged just over 22 minutes per contest with 5.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per contest. In his best season at Oregon State last season, the Atlanta, GA native barely saw 18.5 minutes of action and averaged 3.3 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per contest.
The two seasons that right were a part of the Oregon State program could have definitely gone better. During his first season there, 2022-23, the Beavers struggled, finishing the season 11-21 and going 5-15 in Pac-12 play. This season, they did a little better, but still, we’re not capable of competing for a conference title, much less a spot in the field of 68, as they finished the year with a 13-19 mark and 5-15 in the conference for a second straight season.
