Princeton transfer LB Liam Johnson commits to Cal
Former Princeton Tigers linebacker Liam Johnson has committed to transfer to the California Golden Bears, he shared to social media on Friday.
Johnson posted his decision to X, formerly known as Twitter. Check out the announcement below, as the former Ivy League star is headed to the Atlantic Coast Conference with the Golden Bears.
Johnson played well over his time with the Tigers, accumulating 4.5 sacks over two seasons with Princeton. He’ll look to bring some gumption to the new ACC team this fall.
Liam Johnson played high school football at St. Joseph’s (PA), where he was a three-star prospect. Matthews only spent one season with the Utes, making 12 appearances and six starts. Matthews was a standout freshman, hauling in 29 receptions for 261 yards. He was also an active returner, boasting 15 kick returns for 309 yards and 17 punt returns for 75 yards.
Mikey Matthews played high school football at Mission Viejo (Calif.), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 235 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Additionally, Temple transfer offensive lineman Victor Stoffel also committed to Cal. The 6-foot-8, 282-pound lineman took visits to Texas A&M and UCF as well, while also spending time on the West Coast with the Golden Bears.
This will be the sixth season for Stoffel in his career as he arrived at Temple in 2019. He has spent the past two seasons as a starting right tackle for the Owls, finishing with 875 snaps in 2023 and allowing just two sacks. He graded out as a top-100 tackle this season, according to Pro Football Focus.
