Dayton transfer Koby Brea is considering Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, UConn and Kentucky in the transfer portal, per On3’s Jamie Shaw. Brea is the No. 11 available combo guard in the transfer portal, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Player Rankings.

Brea averaged 11.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 33 games as a junior during the 2023-24 season. He started four games and averaged 29.1 minutes per contest. Brea led the nation in 3-point percentage last season, shooting 49.8% from beyond the arc on 201 attempts.

Brea’s hot hand is nothing new. In the 2022-23 season, the 6-foot-6 standout averaged 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest and shot 40-88 (46%) from downtown during conference play. Brea entered the transfer portal on April 16.

Koby Brea played high school basketball at Monsignor Scanlon High School (NY), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 136 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

While all five of Brea’s listed blue bloods are still on the hunt, most of them have already found success in the transfer portal. Only moments after Brea revealed his final five transfer destinations, former Purdue forward Mason Gillis committed to Duke.

Gillis did not play in his freshman season with the Boilermakers and opted to use his redshirt. In the four years he did play, Gillis averaged 6.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 47.5% from the floor and 40.7% from downtown.

Mason Gillis played high school basketball at New Castle High School in New Castle, IN, where he was a three-star prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

He is the second player Duke has added in the transfer portal this offseason. The program has lost seven players in the portal. However, the team is adding the No. 1 freshman class in the country this offseason, headlined by No. 1 overall 2024 prospect Cooper Flagg.
