Report: Former Kentucky quarterback Beau Allen transfers to Tarleton State
Former Kentucky quarterback Beau Allen announced his intention to transfer last week. Allen, a redshirt sophomore, wasn’t going to play significant snaps behind Will Levis this season. Questions also began of whether he’d be a starter next season with Deuce Hogan and Kaiya Sheron on the roster.
Allen may have seen the writing on the wall and, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, has now decided on where he’ll play next. He reports that Allen has enrolled at Tarleton State and will start practicing today.

Allen was an in city product out of Lexington Catholic High School which sits just two miles from Kroger Field. He redshirted when he arrived on campus. His first two years of eligibility were derailed by Levis’ break out as a star after transferring from Penn State. That led to Allen playing just five games and throwing only 19 passes over his two seasons at UK.
Tarleton State went 6-5 at the FCS level last season. They recently made the jump up from Division II in the ’20-’21 season. Per Thamel’s report, Allen should suit up today after earning his waiver to try and take the starting QB spot for the Texans. The former three-star and Top-50 QB in the 2020 class per On3’s Consensus Top Football Recruits will have a quick turnaround with Tarleton State’s season opening September 1st.
