USC transfer EDGE Romello Height set to visit Miami
USC transfer EDGE Romello Height is set to visit Miami this weekend, a source told On3.
A one-time Hurricanes commit, he flipped to Auburn on signing day in December 2019. After spending two seasons seasons with the Tigers, he entered the portal in 2022 and committed to USC. In two years in Los Angeles, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound pass rusher tallied 21 tackles, including six tackles for loss and four sacks.
Height officially entered the portal back in January, shortly after the departure of EDGE coach Roy Manning. The grad transfer would be able to play immediately for the Canes in 2024 and has two years of eligibility remaining.
The former four-star recruit from Dublin (Ga.) was a top 350-prospect in the 2020 class. Romello Height redshirted his first season at Auburn before playing in nine games in 2021, finishing with 16 quarterback hurries and four tackles for loss in nine games.
Height has had his eye on Miami since entering the transfer portal. His former high school coach, Roger Holmes, previously told On3’s CaneSport that the Hurricanes were a top portal contender.

Miami has been looking to add talent on the defensive line through the transfer portal. The Hurricanes picked up Marshall transfer defensive lineman Elijah Alston in January. The third-team All-Sun Belt selection tallied 45 total tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss in 13 games in 2023.
The Hurricanes signed five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott and four-stars Marquise Lightfoot and Artavius Jones as part of their 2024 recruiting class.
“All these guys play with a high motor,” Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said about the signees in December. “They’re really good technically, and that’s our job to get a better year. But they’re long explosive bodies.”
