Alabama transfer LB Shawn Murphy visiting Florida State

Alabama transfer linebacker Shawn Murphy is currently visiting Florida State, a source confirms to On3.

With Nick Saban retiring, the transfer portal re-opened for a 30-day window for athletes. A former four-star recruit and top-100 prospect, Murphy appeared in 18 games the past two seasons, including 13 this past year for the Crimson Tide.

He’s recorded five career tackles and a pass breakup. The Seminoles have prioritized adding a linebacker in the transfer portal. Florida State linebacker DJ Lundy withdrew from the transfer portal last week after committing to Colorado in December. 

Landing Murphy would be a key pickup for a defense that ranked No. 28 this past season in total defense, allowing 331.9 yards per game.
