South Carolina running back Mario Anderson plans to enter the transfer portal, a source close to the grad transfer tells On3.

A former Division II All-American, Anderson was the leading rusher for the Gamecocks this past season, carrying the ball 143 times for 707 yards and three touchdowns. He also was a threat in the passing game, tallying 22 catches for 153 yards and a score.

The former Newberry College transfer arrived in Columbia this past offseason. During his time at the D-II school, he rushed for 3,293 yards with 35 touchdowns in just three seasons. Anderson’s skills carried over to the SEC this year.

Now the 5-foot-9, 208-pound running back will be looking for a new home.
