TCU defensive back Randon Fontenette has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Fontenette enters the transfer portal following just one season with the Horned Frogs, appearing in all 12 games this year as a true freshman and recording 16 tackles in the process. He had a career-high eight tackles versus Oklahoma this season, entering the transfer portal with three years of eligibility after burning his redshirt in his lone season with the program.

Fournette flipped his commitment from Utah to TCU during his high school recruitment, but the 6-foot-3, 215-pound safety, who was one of TCU’s highest-rated recruits for the 2023 class, now represents the fourth Horned Frogs player to enter the transfer portal out of their most recent freshman class.

Fontenette played high school football at Freeport (TX) Brazosport, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 224 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
