Texas State quarterback TJ Finley plans to enter transfer portal

Texas State quarterback TJ Finley plans to enter the transfer portal, he tells On3.

The former LSU and Auburn player had his best season of his career with the Bobcats and G.J. Kinne this year. He threw for 3,439 yards with 24 touchdowns and just eight interceptions, leading Texas State to a bowl win over Rice in the program’s first FBS bowl game.

A former three-star recruit, Finley started his collegiate career at LSU where he started five games as a true freshman in 2020. He transferred to Auburn after the 2021 spring semester, where he shared playing time with Robby Ashford.

As a grad transfer with two years of eligibility remaining, he was one of the top quarterbacks in the Group of Five this season. The move to leave Texas State comes after Jayden de Laura committed to the Bobcats on Monday.
