Transfer Portal: The top ten players who entered on Tuesday

The college basketball transfer portal opened on Monday, March 18. That started a 45-day window where all men’s college basketball players are able to enter the transfer portal without penalty. It has been a busy couple of weeks, already with almost 1,600 players submitting their names so far. Fifty-one players entered the portal just today.

Let’s discuss the top ten players who entered the transfer portal on April 9, 2024.

1. F Robbie Avila, Indiana State

The Buzz: Robbie Avila earned first-team All-MVC this season after averaging 17.4 points and 4.1 assists while shooting 39.4 percent from three. The 6-foot-10 post player is a sophomore, originally from Oak Forest, Illinois.

2. F Mark Mitchell, Duke

The Buzz: Mark Mitchell has started 67 of 68 games through his two seasons at Duke. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 11.6 points and 6.0 rebounds this season. Mitchell, a sophomore, is originally from Kansas City, Kansas.

3. F Anthony Dell’Orso, Campbell

The Buzz: Anthony Dell’Orso earned second-team All-CAA this season after being named Big South Freshman of the Year last season. The 6-foot-6 wing averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 38.0 percent from three. Dell’Orso, a sophomore, is originally from Australia.

4. G Kylan Boswell, Arizona

The Buzz: Kylan Boswell started 35 games this season. The 6-foot-2 point guard finished top ten in the Pac-12 in steals (1.4) and assists (3.6) per game this season while averaging 9.6 points on 37.9 percent from three. Boswell, a sophomore, graduated from Scottsdale (AZ) AZ Compass and reclassified to enter college a year early.

5. G Ryan Conwell, Indiana State

The Buzz: Ryan Conwell earned second-team All-MVC and All-MVC Tournament honors this season. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 16.6 points while shooting 40.7 percent from three. Conwell is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, and started his career at South Florida.

6. G Julian Larry, Indiana State

The Buzz: Julian Larry earned MVC All-Defense and third-team All-MVC honors this season. The 6-foot-3 point guard averaged 11.0 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting 46.2 percent from three. Larry, a grad transfer, is originally from Frisco, Texas.

7. C Tobe Awaka, Tennessee

The Buzz: Tobe Awaka is originally from Hyde Park, New York. The 6-foot-8, 250-pound post presence played in 35 games this season and averaged 5.1 points and 4.6 rebounds in 13.1 minutes played.

8. G Tramon Mark, Arkansas

The Buzz: Tramon Mark started 28 of 31 games this season for Arkansas. The 6-foot-5 guard finished tenth in the SEC in scoring at 16.2 points per game. Mark is originally from Texas and he started his college career at Houston.

9. G Davion Bailey, Ball State

The Buzz: Davion Bailey started 24 of the 26 games he played in for Ball State this season. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard averaged 12.6 points and shot 42.5 percent from three. Bailey, a junior, is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana and he started his career at Eastern Arizona College.

10. Aden Holloway, Auburn

The Buzz: Aden Holloway earned SEC All-Freshman honors this season. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 7.3 points and 2.7 assists while shooting 30.2 percent from three. Holloway, a former McDonald’s All-American is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina.
