Transfer Portal: The top ten players who entered on Wednesday

The college basketball transfer portal opened on Monday, March 18. That started a 45-day window where all men’s college basketball players are able to enter the transfer portal without penalty. It has been a busy couple of weeks, already with over 1,400 players submitting their names so far. Fifty-one players entered the portal just today.

Let’s discuss the top ten players who entered the transfer portal on April 3, 2024.

1. F Great Osobor, Utah State

The Buzz: Great Osobor earned MWC Player of the Year honors this season. He averaged 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds. 2.8 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game. The 6-foot-9 forward shot 57.7 percent from the field. Osobor is originally from England and started his college career at Montana State. He is a junior.

2. F Trey Townsend, Oakland

The Buzz: Trey Townsend earned Horizon League Player of the Year and Horizon Tournament MVP honors this season. He averaged 17.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Townsend is originally from Michigan. He is a grad transfer. 

3. G Jordan Pope, Oregon State

The Buzz: Jordan Pope averaged 17.6 points and 3.4 assists this season, after earning Pac-12 All-Freshman honors as a freshman. Pope is originally from Oakley, California. The 6-foot-2 guard is a sophomore. 

4. F Maliq Brown, Syracuse

The Buzz: Maliq Brown earned first-team ACC All-Defense honors this season. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 9.5 points and 7.2 rebounds with 2.2 steals per game. Brown is originally from Virignia. He is a sophomore. 

5. G Roddy Gayle, Ohio State

The Buzz: Roddy Gayle started 35 games this season and averaged 13.5 points and 3.1 assists this season. The 6-foot-4 guard is originally from Niagara Falls, New York. He is a sophomore.

6. F Rubin Jones, North Texas

The Buzz: Rubin Jones earned Conference USA All-Defense honors last season after earning All-Rookie honors as a freshman. The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 12.1 points and 3.7 assists this season. Jones is originally from Houston, Texas, and is a grad transfer.

7. G Garwey Dual, Providence

The Buzz: Garwey Dual was a top 50 recruit coming out of high school The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 3.3 points and 1.9 assists in 33 games this season. Dual is originally from Houston, Texas. He is a freshman. 

8. C Tyler Bilodeau, Oregon State

The Buzz: Tyler Bilodeau averaged 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and shot 53.3 percent from the field this season. The 6-foot-10 post is originally from Kennewick, Washington. He is a sophomore. 

9. F Earl Timberlake, Bryant

The Buzz: Earl Timberlake earned first-team All-AEC honors this season. The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 14.6 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.1 blocks per game. Timberlake is originally from Washington DC. He started his college career at Miami, then Memphis. Timberlake is a grad transfer.

10. G Shakeel Moore, Mississippi State

The Buzz: Shakeel Moore started 22 games for Mississippi State this season and averaged 7.9 points and 2.0 assists. The 6-foot-1 guard is originally from Greensboro, North Carolina. He started his career at NC State. Moore is a grad transfer.
