Transfer Portal: Top 10 players to enter on Day One
The college basketball transfer portal opened today to start the 45-day window all men’s college basketball players will be able to enter without penalty. It has been a busy day with over 250 players submitting their names.
Let’s discuss the top ten players who entered the transfer portal on Monday, March 18.

1. C Brandon Garrison, Oklahoma State
The Buzz: Brandon Garrison is a former McDonald’s All-American and a top-50 recruit. The freshman from Oklahoma started 29 games for Oklahoma State this season, averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks for the Cowboys. He is listed at 6-foot-10 245 pounds. Garrison is a freshman.
2. PG Dug McDaniel, Michigan
The Buzz: Dug McDaniel is a former four-star recruit ranked among the top 75 players in the country by On3. The 5-foot-11 point guard led Michigan in scoring (16.3) and assists (4.7) this season. The Washington, DC native also shot 36.8 percent from three. McDaniel is a sophomore.
3. PF Mikeal Brown-Jones, UNC-Greensboro
The Buzz: Mikeal Brown-Jones earned first-team All-Southern Conference this season after averaging 18.9 points and 7.5 rebounds for UNC-Greensboro. The native of Philadelphia prepped at Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy. He started his college career at VCU. Brown-Jones is a grad transfer.
4. G Rodney Rice, Virginia Tech
The Buzz: Rodney Rice is a former four-star, top 75 recruit from Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha Catholic. Rice played in eight games in 2022-23, before having to sit with an injury. Preserving his redshirt, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 7.4 points in 20.1 minutes. He left the team prior to the start of the 2023-24 season. Rice is a redshirt freshman.
5. F Darlinstone Dubar, Hofstra
The Buzz: Darlinstone Dubar averaged 17.8 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 39.9 percent from three on the year. The 6-foot-8 small forward originally from the Charlotte, North Carolina area has scored 1,322 in his college where he has shot 38.1 percent from three. Dubar started his college career at Iowa State. He is a grad transfer.
6. F Amari Williams, Drexel
The Buzz: Amari Williams is the three-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year. The 6-foot-10 forward is a native of the United Kingdom. He averaged 12.2 points and 7.8 rebounds while averaging 1.8 blocks. Williams is a grad transfer.

7. C Josh Cohen, UMass
The Buzz: Josh Cohen earned first-team All-A10 honors after averaging 15.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and shooting 54.4 percent from the field. The 6-foot-10 post and former NEC Player of the Year with St. Francis (PA) has scored 1,626 career points. Cohen is a grad transfer.
8. F Brandon Johnson, East Carolina
The Buzz: Brandon Johnson averaged 14.0 points and 8.6 rebounds this season while shooting 36.5 percent from three on 5.7 attempts per game. The 6-foot-8 forward is originally from the Raleigh, North Carolina area and played his freshman season at Brunswick Community College. Johnson is a grad transfer.
9. G Dominick Harris, Loyola Marymount
The Buzz: Dominick Harris led Loyola Marymount in scoring this season averaging 14.3 points. Harris knocked down 44.8 percent from three on 6.0 attempts per game this season. The 6-foot-3 guard is originally from California, he started his college career at Gonzaga. Harris is a junior.
10. F Frankie Fidler, Nebraska Omaha
The Buzz: Frankie Fidler averaged 20.1 points and 6.3 rebounds this season. He finished second in the Summit League in scoring and his 19.6 points produced per game also finished second in the league. The 6-foot-7 forward is a junior and originally from Nebraska.
