A few weeks ago, former Louisville safety Josh Minkins, Jr. found his new home in the transfer portal. He committed to the West Virginia Mountaineers. On Friday evening, he changed his mind and decommitted from West Virginia. He announced the move via his Twitter page. “I will not be attending West Virginia. Please respect my decision.”

Over his time in the Cardinals’ secondary, Minkins Jr. totaled 99 tackles, three pass deflections, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a sack. Those came in several appearances, and, eventually, as a starter, during his time with the program.

He then elected to enter the portal on December 17th. We’ll have to see which team he decides to switch his commitment to in the future.

Minkins Jr. played high school football at Ballard (KY) where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,060 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished as a Top-75 safety as well as a Top-15 player out of the state of Kentucky.
