Running back Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams has informed the UMass coaching staff he plans to enter the transfer portal as a grad transfer in May, he tells On3.

The former Rutgers transfer spent the last three seasons with the Minutemen. With a final season of eligibility remaining, he plans to find a new school to close out his college career. Due to the NCAA permitting multi-time transfers to play next year without securing a waiver, Lynch-Adams will test out the portal.

In his three years at UMass, the 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back rushed for 1,568 yards and 14 touchdowns. This past season he ran for 1,157 yards and 12 scores, becoming just the second UMass running back to achieve 1,000-plus yards rushing in a season in the FBS era. A Phil Steele All-Independent Team selection, he averaged 4.9 yards per carry.

“A year ago [Lynch-Adams] was banged up, and we didn’t get the best that he had to offer,” UMass head coach Don Brown said this past season. “This year we’re getting the best out of Kay’Ron. He’s playing at a high level. He’s not the biggest guy in the world but he just finds a way to gain yards and make guys miss. He’s gaining a lot of yards after contact and he’s a great kid, too.”
