Utah State forward Nigel Burris enters NCAA transfer portal
Utah State sophomore and former Idaho player Nigel Burris has entered the transfer portal, according to On3.
Burris had a remarkably efficient freshman campaign in a secondary role for the Vandals as a freshman in 2022-23, averaging eight points and five rebounds while shooting above 40% from 3 en route to winning Big Sky Rookie of the Year.
At USU, though, he averaged just 1.1 points per game in 20 appearances and will now try to find another new home.
As a recruit, Burris hailed from San Jose, California, where he played for Archbishop Mitty. He was a three-star recruit in the On3 Industry Rankings and ranked as the No. 281 overall player in the 2022 class. He was also rated the No. 59 power forward and the No. 29 prospect from California.

Utah State quarterback Cooper Legas entered the NCAA transfer portal last week, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Legas enters the transfer portal after spending the last five years with the Aggies, as the veteran passer who’s appeared in 19 games with 15 starts throwing for 3,485 yards and 32 touchdowns will look to call a new program home to end his college career.

After redshirting in his freshman season and making zero game appearance during the shortened 2020 COVID season, Legas finally saw some playing time in 2021. Appearing in two games for Utah State where he competed 11 of his 20 pass attempts for 171 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
During the 2022 season Legas appeared 10 games and made eight starts, throwing for 1,499 yards with 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Also rushing for a career-high 303 yards and two scores on the ground. And this past season, Legas started seven of the nine games where he threw for a career-high 1,815 yards and 19 touchdowns (8 interceptions).
Legas was a three-star prospect out of Orem High School in Utah, where he was ranked the No. 1,705 overall player and No. 92 quarterback in the country for the 2019 recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
