Utah State safety Anthony Switzer enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Another talented college football player is entering his name into the spring transfer window in hopes of finding a new home for the upcoming 2024 season. On3 has learned that Utah State safety Anthony Switzer entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal Monday afternoon.
Switzer did not start his collegiate career at Utah State. The Arkansas native originally decided to play for his home state’s state school, Arkansas State. Switzer played for the Red Wolves from 2019 to 2021. In his first two years, he saw the field often but in various spots throughout the secondary, and he even spent time as a linebacker in 2020. It wasn’t until his third season at Arkansas State that he became primarily a safety, finishing out 2021 with 38 tackles, 23 solo, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble and fumble recovery apiece and eight games. Switzer missed the entirety of the 2022 season recovering from an injury.

In his lone season at Utah State, Switzer played in 12 games, recording 84 tackles, 39 solo, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, a forced fumble, and one interception. The senior safety was able to show off his versatility and highlight what he can do on the field when given an opportunity. And that ability to impact the game at multiple levels will likely pay dividends for Switzer as he attempts to find a new home for the 2024 season.
Switzer played high school football at Marion High School in Marion, AR. He was not ranked but is accredited to being a part of the 2019 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
