Vanderbilt transfer DB De'Rickey Wright commits to Texas A&M

Former Vanderbilt Commodores safety De’Rickey Wright has committed to Texas A&M via the NCAA Transfer Portal, he announced on social media.

“Excited for this opportunity! #GigEm,” Wright wrote, accompanying a graphic of him in an Aggies uniform on Friday.

Wright made 10 starts for the Commodores this season, tallying 46 total tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble return. In four seasons at Vanderbilt, Wright made 35 appearances and 26 starts, amassing 131 career tackles, 17 passes defended and five interceptions.

Wright entered the transfer portal in February 2022, but eventually opted to return to Vanderbilt. This time around, Wright will be a graduate transfer joining the Aggies.

Wight played high school football at Gasden (Ala.) Gasden City, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 343 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
