Vanderbilt transfer QB AJ Swann visits South Carolina, starts LSU visit Friday
Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann’s visit to South Carolina reportedly went well. Nonetheless, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound QB plans on visiting LSU on Friday, according to On3’s Chad Simmons.
In two seasons at Vanderbilt, Swann tallied 15 appearances and 12 starts. He started in all six games he played in this year, recording 1,457 passing yards and 12 touchdowns while only throwing seven interceptions.
Swann entered the 2023 campaign as Vanderbilt’s starting quarterback but was sidelined after five games due to a right elbow injury and performance issues. In 2022, Swann made nine appearances and six starts, completing 58.1% of passes for 1,274 yards and 10 touchdowns to just two interceptions.
Swann threw 159 pass attempts before throwing his first interception, the longest such stretch by a Vanderbilt quarterback to open a career since 1996 and the longest by an SEC quarterback to open a career (at an FBS school) since 2002. On3 has Swann listed as the No. 18 QB available in the transfer portal.
Swann played high school football at Cherokee (GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 449 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
